About Allen
I write the way people talk when they finally relax—honest, unhurried, and unpolished in all the right ways.

Think of this page as a seat at my kitchen table. After 45 years of marriage and a lifetime in the classroom, I’ve traded my whiteboard markers for a MacBook. Now, I’m a full-time writer and a grandfather to two boys who keep the noise level healthy.
I don’t chase big declarations. Instead, I look for the parables hidden in the small stuff: a doctor’s waiting room, a holiday meal, a long drive home, or a brief moment of irritation that reveals something deeper. I believe those everyday scenes are actually openings into Scripture, conviction, and the kind of truth you didn’t realize you needed until it was right in front of you.
I try to be a good neighbor, not just a teacher.
I own my missteps easily—not for show, but because honesty is a lot lighter to carry than pretending. I write like someone who has made mistakes, learned from them, and wants to help you recognize God’s faithfulness in your own story. I have a soft spot for the tired, the grieving, and those who live in the grip of anxiety and depression.
My goal is simple.
I want to uncover the sacred in the mundane. Whether it’s traffic patterns or family habits, nothing is too ordinary to reveal something about God’s character.
What you can expect here: I show up every morning. I share stories about the things we usually rush past, looking for God’s fingerprints in the course of our daily lives.
I believe God is closer to us than most people think, and that He is working in our lives whether we can see it or not.
